Ever since Ryan and I were married he has tried over and over again to let him buy me a
sewing machine, but I keep telling him "No, because I would never use it." Well, a lady
in our ward is an amazing seamstress. While I was talking to her a while ago I told her how
much fun it would be to learn how to make a skirt, and that I thought the Young Women
would love making their own skirts for Church as an mutual activity. At the beginning of
this month I took her up on the offer to teach me how to sew a skirt, so she came with me
to buy the fabric, patterns, and all the other stuff I was going to need. Then, with her
help I made two skirts for church! I had so much fun learning how to sew, and I never
thought a yard and a half of straight fabric could make something so cute and still fit just
right! I am excited to help the Young Women learn how to make something they can wear
modestly, and at the same time have pride in creating something new and fun.
