Ryan and I have never been interested in having cable or local television channels on our TV. We just think that if we did then the majority of our time would be spent watching TV instead of using our time more productively. Usually, when we watch TV it is on our computer (Hulu) or a movie that we purchased. The only time we ever indulge on wasting time with the TV is when we are on a vacation, and we love to watch the old classic reruns like Saved By The Bell and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Anyway, a few years ago I came across a reality TV show called The Biggest Loser, and immediately fell in love with it.
Okay, fast forward several seasons and I am still hooked. So, this is where it gets interesting. While I was at church a while back I was getting to know a new family that moved into the area, and after talking for some time I learned that they were related to some previous contestants on The Biggest Loser. In turned out that she was related to Dani Hill (mother) and Sarah Nitta (sister), and of course I became very excited.
You can understand that when my friend told me her mother was coming to Atlanta to share her story about the show and how she has maintained her weight loss I was estatic. My original plans were to meet her at the event she was speaking at; however, later we needed to be out of town on the day she was speaking, so my friend was kind enough to arrange for me to meet her before I left.
It was fun to learn more about her story because all I knew is what I saw on TV. I also learned some interesting tidbits about the show and what goes on behind the scenes when the camera is not rolling. It was a memorable experience for me. I hope that I can reach my personal goals as well help others with theirs. It is not easy, it takes a lot of work, and can be challenging, but can be very rewarding when you understand reaching those goals will improve and lengthen your life.
