4th of July

This year for the 4th of July we decided to stay in GA instead of going to ID as usual. With the holiday falling out in the middle of the week it was more difficult to find the time to travel without taking a substantial amount of vacation.

We started out going to a parade near Marietta Square, but before the parade started we walked through the craft booths and local antique shops to pass some time.  After watching the parade we visited Miss Mamie's, where the winner of the most recent Cupcake War has her business.  She makes gourmet cup cakes, and of course, her stuff is delicious.

We went home for a few hours to eat lunch and take nap, then later went over to a friend's house for a BBQ.  We had some great food and some great company as always.  Eventually, it was time for the local firework shows but Ryan wanted to go home instead because he had to work the next day.  However, in an effort to be somewhat festive we lit some sparklers to create our own firework show before going to bed, and obviously they were a let down.  Next year we will have to upgrade from sparklers to mortar shells.
