Charleston Day Trip

Coming back from our trip we couldn't catch a direct flight into ATL, so we opted to fly to Charleston since we have a friend (Adam) who lives there now.

We drove downtown and parked by the waterfront area near what the locals call the Battery.  We walked following the water over to a viewpoint of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge that crosses the Cooper River.  Then we walked through the City Market, which was a good 3 to 4 blocks long, and put us downtown at the other end.  At that point it was time to find somewhere to eat lunch and we choose Jim and Nicks.

After lunch we continued walking around downtown.  We walked by the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church (the tallest church in Charleston) and Marion Square on our way back to the car.

The homes located near the Battery were very unique and looked like a fun place to live.  The current owners have done a remarkable job of preserving the plantation look and feel that pervaded the South a hundred years ago.

Thanks again Adam for letting us stay with you and helping us avoid staying the night in a airport.
