There is a group of girls in my ward that I do aerobics with and our instructor, Bonnie, started a group called "Smokin' Hot Mommas." She has been bugging everyone to run in the "Race for the Cure" for months, and I really wanted to run in it but I wasn't sure how I would do. Finally, one day Kandis, Marissa and I just bucked down and signed up for the race. The day we signed up was about 3 weeks before the race, which didn't give us much time for training. But I managed to fit in some training and I even did better than I thought. The race was a 5k which in training I was running it about 40-45 minutes, and I know this is pretty slow for the average runner, but to me I thought I was making good time. Well, when I crossed the finish line today the time was 34:03. I was so excited that I did way better than what I ran during training. Thank you Bonnie, Kendall, Kandis, and Marissa for your support and pushing me to do the best I could do.

This was the back of our group shirt and the people who I raced for. It was great motivation to have their names on the my back to keep me going and it helped me realize I wasn't running just for myself.
We all made it to the finish line and we are still smiling.

Seriously, way to go! I HATE running more then anything. I am hoping after these babies i can get myself to be a runner but I just don't enjoy it!

How exciting! Congrats on your race. Dave and I were just talking this morning about how fun it would be to be in a marathon. Good job!!!
Way to go, Heather!!! That is awesome. I'm so proud of you. If only I liked to run too...Wish we could see you guys when we are home in a week. It was fun to talk to you on the phone the other day.
